Cumberland Covered Bridge Festival

In the heart of Grant County is the Cumberland Covered Bridge. This 181-foot covered timbered bridge is a beauty and it’s the last remaining covered bridge in Grant County! Spanning the Mississinewa River in Matthews, Indiana, this serene setting is a must-stop for a picnic and a selfie. Every year the Matthews Lions Club hosts the Matthews Cumberland Covered Bridge Festival to celebrate the unique history of their community and to enjoy the beauty of Fall in Indiana with family and friends.

Join us September 11-13, 2020 for the Matthews Cumberland Covered Bridge Festival. When you walk through the antique, 1877 bridge you’ll find unique craft exhibits, live entertainment, delicious eats, antique engines, a steam-powered sawmill, an antique tractor pull and more. We highly recommend indulging in a world-famous Matthews Lions Club frosted malt!

Little ones will love the horse rides and playing on inflatables, making this the perfect family-friendly event. On Saturday, the festival features a huge crafts and flea market where you can browse through hand-crafted items that are locally made. Check out the antique tractor parade on Saturday morning, and play all day until it’s time for the fantastic fireworks display on Saturday evening. On Sunday, cool classic cars are on display at the Matthews Community Center.

Make your trip to Grant County a full weekend getaway and plan to attend the Swayzee Days Festival, too. This hometown, family-friendly festival includes vintage tractors, fun kids’ activities and games, a town parade, a farmer’s market, a softball tournament, and delicious food. This year the town celebrates First Responders and their service to the community.
