Since it began in 1969, the MPO has evolved from a group of local musicians and students into a professional symphony with artistic and educational initiatives that provide the framework for each season. The longevity of an orchestra with such high artistic standards is truly remarkable for a community of our size. More than 45 years later, the community we serve has demonstrated a mutual commitment to the arts and the cultural vitality of our area.

Season Finale,  ‘Night At The Opera’. Featuring the IWU Chorale. Audience members will have the opportunity to respond at each concert this season via cell phone their reactions to the concert, and to the three innovative conductor candidates, one of whom will be named Maestro. Adults $20, Students 13 and up $10, Students 12 and under free admission. General admission seating.

‘Beethoven Lives Upstairs!’.  This world famous production features a lively exchange of letters between young ‘Christoph’ and his uncle. Their subject is the ‘madman’ who has moved into the upstairs apartment of Christoph’s Vienna home.. The letters recount stories of Beethoven, the man who has taken the upstairs room, playing late into the night and other strange behaviors.
