Fairmount Historical Museum

A historic landmark, the Museum was founded in 1975. Exhibits showcase authentic artifacts of hometown film star James Dean, Garfield cartoon creator Jim Davis, community history, and much more. The gift shop includes James Dean items, Garfield items, and Fairmount items. The Museum sponsors the annual James Dean Festival and James Dean Run Car Show during the last full weekend in September. Guided tours up to 50. Museum requests advance notice for large groups. Handicap accessible. Open May-November on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 11am-5pm.  Open by appointment with advance notice.

James Dean Gallery

The James Dean Gallery features a collection of Dean portraits and rare memorabilia, including hometown artifacts, collectibles, magazines and more.  Visitors from around the globe visit the Gallery to pay homage to 50’s film icon James Dean.  Don’t forget to stop in and browse at the Rebel Rebel gift shop for one of a kind Dean gifts and nifty 50’s items!

Playacres Park

Open year round. Thirteen acre park offers a shelterhouse, playground, picnic shelters, picnic tables, grills, a lighted basketball court, baseball diamonds and a tennis court. Home of the James Dean Run classic and custom car show each September.Playacres features a 2,000 sq. ft. community building
